Drivers

The job and what's involved

Driving licence requirements.

Vehicles with up to 8 seats can be driven on a normal car licence.

Vehicles with 9 seats and above will require a PSV D1 or D licence

We will only employ drivers with no more than 3 points on their driving licence

Contracted transport for main stream and special needs children and adult social care

As a driver, it would be your job to safely drive to the pick-up points usually door-to-door, similar to a taxi service, or work on regular services like school runs

You might drive cars or minibuses as per your licence

Typical duties include:

  • Planning the best route
  • Driving the vehicle safely, stopping at designated points
  • Helping passengers get on and off the vehicle (if required)
  • Completing maintenance procedures
  • Performing vehicle checks in accordance with legal requirements
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and tidy between journeys
  • Completing any paperwork in a timely manner

You would work together with the passenger assistants

In a full-time job you could work up to 38 hours a week. You may need to be flexible as passengers can require transport from early in the morning to late in the evening

If you require a Part-time job, we will work with you to maximise your working hours to suit your personal position, normally between 12.5 and 20 hours per week

Most of your time would be spent on the move, picking up and dropping off passengers

  • Performing vehicle checks in accordance with legal requirements

  • Good attitude towards passengers, staff and management
  • To follow all health and safety requirements whilst at pick-up and drop-off locations
  • Vehicles to be kept clean and tidy
  • Report any vehicle defects

Passenger Assistant

The job and what's involved

Contracted transport for main stream and special needs children and adult social care

As a transport passenger assistant, it would be your job to accompany passengers on journeys in the vehicle (usually a minibus)

Typical duties include:

  • Helping passengers get on and off the vehicle
  • Securing wheelchairs and baggage before a journey begins
  • Assisting passengers while the vehicle is moving
  • Keeping the vehicle tidy between journeys
  • Completing any paperwork in a timely manner

You would work together with the driver of the vehicle, and possibly other passenger assistants

In a full-time job you could work up to 38 hours a week. You may need to be flexible as passengers can require transport from early in the morning to late in the evening
